Ever since my Sophomore year of high school, I have been involved with Relay for Life. My Senior year I was co-director of our event that year. I learned a lot about cancer and value everything I was taught.
Towards the end of 2012, Nyla and I found out that Nyla's mother Annie had developed Breast Cancer. She underwent treatment and the cancer was gone. Last Thanksgiving, we found out that it had come back more aggressively. Annie is currently undergoing treatment up in Seattle Washington and is kicking ass. Thank goodness there was a hospital somewhat near by that specialized in rarer forms of cancer.
With all of that being said, I am participating in Relay For Life here at the University of Oregon. I've been brainstorming lately different fundraiser ideas.
Cancer is awful. Those who have it lose their hair, energy, money and ultimately time from their lives. I cannot experience that unless I one day get cancer.
Most of you know that I am not a very physical person. I enjoy cooking and eating and Netflix. I am not a huge fan of running.
SO.... After all the anticipation, here is my new Relay For Life Fundraiser.
I'm titling it:
The 100 Mile Dash!
I am planning to run 100 miles by May 17th, which is the Relay For Life date here at UO.
I am asking people to pledge me for every mile I run. (Very similar to Run for the Arts or a Jog-athon.) My goal is $1,000.00 dollars. If 10 people donate $1 per mile, or 20 people donate $.50 per mile I can reach my goal. I will also accept flat donations as well on my Relay for Life page.
I will use my Nike+ Run tracker app to update each run, as proof that I am actually doing this.
At the end of my fundraiser, I will tally up my mileage and what people have pledged and have each donor submit their donation on my relay for life page. All donations are tax deductible as The American Cancer Society is a 501(c)(3).
I encourage you all to consider donating to this amazing organization. They do so much to help teach prevention, healthy life styles and provide immense support for those with cancer. If you have questions you can always reach out to me and ask.

Today was my 4th run since I began on Friday.
On Friday I ran 1.42 miles.
Saturday was 1.50 miles.
Monday was 2.05 miles (AND I DIDN'T HAVE TO STOP AND WALK!)
Today I ran 1.60 miles.
I have totaled 6.58 miles so far.
Only 93.42 miles to go.
My feet already hurt.
