17 more days

Hello everyone,

Haven't posted in awhile but as many of you know I ran my first 4 miles of Friday.  It was exhausting, but I was happy to have been able to accomplish that goal.  I am now at 66 miles and am still on track to reach my goal by May 17th; which is coming up incredibly fast!  It is freaking me out.

I have raised $565 dollars so far and hopefully am still on track for that.  I've had some awesome and generous donors so far.  Many have been my age, which has been wonderful to see people my age taking to heart this charity.

THANK YOU to all who have donated.  You are all rock stars!

If you have been planning to donate or have thought once or twice about it, I encourage you to donate today!  End this beautiful month with a charitable donation to a great cause!

Still Trekkin

Hey all,

Haven't posted in awhile but I promise I'm still running my legs, butt, and lungs off.  I am now at 55 miles.  Some days I do not want to go.  Today, about a mile in I was dying.  It was tough.  But I finished with an average mile better than my last two weeks.  Funny how that works.

I heard a survivor speak tonight at the meeting I am currently sitting in on.  He has survived cancer 3 times.  He has been dealing with cancer since he was 2.  2 years old.  I cannot imagine what that is like.  16 years of dealing with this disease.  Over and over.  He said a few words about his best friend who passed away last year from cancer that he met through Relay.  He spoke on Relay helped his family with travel from the Southern Coast to Portland, over a 5 hour drive one way each week.  They helped with his lodging.  He also said something which will be in my mind tomorrow when I'm wheezing along on the Amazon bike trail.

He said that cancer does not discriminate.  It does not care if you have your whole life ahead of you or behind you.  Doesn't care if you're rich or poor.  Doesn't care about your gender identity, race or age.

I never really thought about it in that way.  It can happen to anyone.  There is a 1 in 2 chance that I will get it, and a 1 in 3 chance that Nyla will.

That's scary.  Really scary.  Scarier than snakes and I'm terrified of snakes.  But some of the bravest people I know have and are kicking cancers butt.  They prove there is hope.

There is always hope.

Thanks for reading everyone.  It means a lot.

A Third of the Way There

I'm over a third of the way there!  36 miles down!  64 Miles to go!

Today was a breeze.  I didn't want to stop.

Yesterday though.......
My legs ached.
My feet burned.

Sweat stung my eyes.

My legs ached more.
My feet burned more.
I wanted to walk and stop.  So badly.

But I couldn't and I kept going.

THE longest 2 miles I've ran so far.

But it can only get easier from here!

A big shout out goes to Taylor Wilson who was the first person to donate! She is awesome!

Who will be next?

Getting Back in the Zone

After enjoying a week of stay cation, it was time to get back into the groove of school.  New term, new things to learn.  I haven't posted my runs in awhile but I have been keeping at it!  I am now at 31 miles!  Almost a third of the way there with only 41 more days to go!

Today was my first ever 5K Fridays!  It was a sweaty, hot and long mess but well worth it.

I haven't received any donations yet, and I'm still looking towards my goal of $1000.00 dollars.  I'd love the motivation guys!

Hopefully I don't fall asleep at work tonight.  But hey, I only have 9 days left at Regal  Couldn't be happier  Enjoying a nice tapas plate before I go in and enjoying catching up with The Walking Dead.
